Almost 3,000 people pack-out Peasedown’s Party in the Park Festival
Thursday 15th June 2023 Leave your thoughtsAlmost 3,000 people packed out Peasedown’s Party in the Park summer festival last Saturday – in beautiful hot weather!
Sponsored by St John’s Church, Curo, Truespeed, Bath Audi, Bluebird Care and Mercedes-Benz, festival revellers came along to enjoy over seven hours of live music and entertainment.
The event included an array of stalls and attractions, a dog show, hot food, and the return of the Peasedown Diamond cider.
Organised by the village’s local councillors, Gavin Heathcote and Karen Walker (Independents), the festival is Peasedown’s biggest annual event. They said:
“Thank you to everyone who came along to support this year’s Party in the Park festival. It’s been fantastic to see the event grow over the last 14 years. From a humble village fete to a festival with 3,000 people – we couldn’t have done it without the support of the local community.
“As a village we certainly showed what we can do when we come together and work for a common goal!”
Main stage performances included: Original Barn Finds; Peasedown St John Primary School Choir; Kerosene Grace; Lille Rode; Trash Casino; Drew Neirin and the Star Shaped Pegs; Late Notice; Skimpi and the Trinity Band.
The stage and entertainment line-up this year was managed by Reaper Events and Radio Bath.
The Peasedown St John Community Civic Award, awarded to a villager each year who has gone ‘above and beyond’ to serve the community, was won by a woman who has spent the last 20 years keeping Peasedown clean with her daily clean ups and litter collections.
Jennifer Calignano can often be found cleaning the streets with her push bike.
Gavin and Karen said:
“Thank you to everyone who sent in nominations for this year’s Peasedown St John Community Civic Award!
“We were overwhelmed with nominations for one particular lady… Jennifer (Jenny) Calignano.
“Jenny is well known to many for her selfless duty and dedication over many years for collecting litter throughout the streets of Peasedown St John. For at least the last 20 years, Jenny has been out in the streets of Peasedown with her push bike collecting litter – often in the early hours of the morning. From Braysdown Lane to Eckweek Road, and from Westbury View to Carlingcott – Jenny has been out, all week, every week, helping to keep our streets clean.
“Thank you, Jenny!”
Peasedown Party in the Park was held on Saturday 10th June on Beacon Field, Peasedown St John.
