Almost 3,000 people packed out Peasedown’s Party in the Park festival last Friday afternoon to celebrate HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Sponsored by St John’s Church, Curo, Bath College, Bath & North East Somerset Council and the Peasedown Community Trust, festival revellers came along to enjoy over seven hours of live music and entertainment.

The event included an array of stalls and attractions, a Dog Show, Mini-Athletics, and the return of the Peasedown Diamond cider.

Over £4,500 was raised in donations on the day – the most ever at one event – all of which will go towards helping to cover the event’s running costs.

Gavin Heathcote is the festival’s Community Engagement Manager. He said:

“Thank you to everyone who came along to support this year’s Jubilee festival. To mark the 70-year reign of a Monarch is a very unique occasion, and we certainly weren’t going to miss it here in Peasedown St John!

This was also our first festival in three years due to the Coronavirus pandemic, so it was great to come back on a high!

Main stage performances included: Original Barn Finds; Peasedown St John Primary School Children; The Great Day Choir; Warner Brothers Sisters; Keith Horler; Kerosene Grace; Lille Rode and Open Road Somerset.

The stage and entertainment line-up this year was managed by Reaper Events and Radio Bath.

BaNES 3SG, one of the Official Event Partners, provided over 20 hours of volunteer support by helping to staff the festival gates.

Cllr Karen Walker is one of the festival’s founders, and helped bring the original management team together in 2008. She said:

“It’s been fantastic to see Party in the Park grow over the last 14 years. From a humble village fete to a festival with 3,000 people – we couldn’t have done it without the support of the local community.

As a village we certainly showed what we can do when we come together and work for a common goal!”

Jubilee Party in the Park, as part of the national four-day bank holiday to mark HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, was held on Friday 3rd June on Beacon Field, Peasedown St John
